BIOCHEMISTRY LABORATORY

In the Biochemistry Laboratory, analyses are carried out with relation to the determination of heavy metals, minerals and trace elements in animal tissues, certain foodstuffs, water and feed, as well as serum macro and trace element determinations and various biochemical analyses that are of significance in the diagnosis of various diseases, notably metabolic diseases arising from insufficient and irregular feed intake among animals.

A. DUTIES

1- Carrying out measurements of heavy metals, minerals and trace elements in animal tissues of nutritional value (red, white meat, etc.), various foodstuffs, water and feedstuffs and performing macro and trace element analyses in order to diagnose metabolic diseases arising from malnutrition or some stress factors,

2- Performing the determination of serum enzyme values and biochemical parameters that may assist in the diagnosis of certain diseases,

3- Rendering services at various commissions formed by the Ministry regarding their area of expertise,

4- Organizing in-service trainings,

5- Conducting scientific projects within the scope of its field of activity.

B. SCOPE OF ACCREDITATION

"The Biochemistry Laboratory has been accredited by Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) for tests of "Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (GFAAS) and Determination of Cadmium (Cd) in fish tissues" and "Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (GFAAS) and Determination of Lead (Pb) in fish tissues" according to TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
