In our laboratory, samples sent with suspicion of disease from the provinces and districts within the area of responsibility of our Institute Directorate are being studied. It plans national surveys and proficiency tests in national reference diseases and organizes training. An outbreak investigation is being carried out in the field. In our laboratory, viral diseases are diagnosed using serological and molecular methods from samples of cattle, sheep, equids, bees, fish, poultry, cats and dogs. One of the main responsibilities of our laboratory is to struggle against  infectious and cross-border viral diseases and follow diagnostic methods. In our laboratory;

• Studies and research projects are carried out on the diagnosis, treatment and protection of viral diseases,

• Isolation studies are carried out in cell cultures of samples detected positive,

• Cooperation is made with international organizations regarding national reference diseases,

• Participation in proficiency tests organized by WOAH/European Union Reference Laboratories regarding national reference diseases is ensured,

• Active participation is ensured in national and international meetings, congresses and workshops organized on national reference diseases,

• Genetic analyzes of viral diseases detected as positive are performed,

• Opinions and evaluations are prepared on the issues requested by the Ministry,

• Breeders who have problems with viral diseases are informed about disease struggle and control,

• Viral diseases of marine mammals (dolphins, whales), wild birds, reptiles and other wild animals are investigated together with the Wildlife Unit.

Our laboratory participates in proficiency tests at the standards set by the Turkish Accreditation Agency in order to ensure the quality control of the analyses.
