Poultry Disease Laboratory established in 1957 and started to produce the lyophilized Newcastle disease vaccine, Fowl-pox disease vaccine and Salmonella pullorum antigens as well as diagnosis of avian diseases, research studies and information providing to the the region's breeders. Since 1976, it continued to work as Poultry Disease Diagnosis Laboratory, and in 2006, it was renamed as "Avian Diseases Diagnosis Laboratory" with the decision of the Institute.
Main Responsibilities of Laboratory
- Making antemortem and postmortem examinations of avians from the field that are dead or alive, conducts bacteriological, virological, serological, molecular and parasitological diagnosis of the disease agents that are listed in the laboratories analyze list and contribute to preventation and treatment of the diseases with useful information, antimicrobial susceptibility test results and reporting.
- The Laboratory is responsible for making routine health screening of the hatcheries and poultry breeding farms that are in the responsibility area of our Institute, required by the 16.01.2014 dated and 28884 numbered "Regulation for Egg Hatcheries and Poultry Breeding Farms".
- Producing Salmonella pullorum&gallinarum plate antigen
- Controlling the imported turkey and chicken hatching eggs in terms fertility rate and Salmonella
- Performing Mg, Mm, Ms, and Salmonella test serologically and rapid plate agglutination tests from the blood samples obtained from imported turkeys, duck and chicken chicks, to and bacteriological Salmonella isolation and identification from the internal organs of these animals.
- Making scientific studies on the subject and their publication work
- Responsible for carrying out training activities on subjects.
